PITTSFIELD — The driver charged with causing a head-on crash nearly a year ago that killed a popular radio personality in the Berkshires has pleaded not guilty.Anthony Serrano, of Springfield, was released on personal recognizance after his arraignment Wednesday on charges including motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of drugs.

ATTLEBORO  — A Massachusetts grand jury has indicted a woman whose DNA linked her to the attempted shooting of a state trooper.The Sun Chronicle reports 49-year-old Julie Rabinowitz was indicted on one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Prosecutors said Tuesday additional charges of assault with attempt to murder and attempted assault with a dangerous weapon were dropped.Authorities say Rabinowitz shot at the trooper as he was driving through Mansfield in 2015. The trooper was uninjured.

WEYMOUTH — Prosecutors say a former day care worker in Massachusetts defrauded the state out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a scheme that affected more than 100 families.Demetris Pringle, of Everett, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of breaking and entering and larceny. Authorities say the 35-year-old's scheme took place over an eight month period while he worked as the director of enrollment at South Shore Stars day care.Police say Pringle underreported parent's wages to get higher child care subsidizes from the state and pocketed the difference.

BREWSTER — Three dolphins have been rescued after being stranded off of Cape Cod.The Cape Cod Times reports rescuers with the International Fund for Animal Welfare released three dolphins into the ocean after they were stranded Monday afternoon.The group initially heard about five dolphins swimming near the shore through a tip from the Brewster Natural Resources Director, Chis Miller.Rescuers found three dolphins beached, but in healthy condition. They were released into deeper waters off West Dennis Beach.___

CANTON, Mass. — A body has been found in the woods off Interstate 95 in eastern Massachusetts.The Norfolk District Attorney's office says a person reported finding what they believed was human remains off the roadway.The person had stopped to assist a motorist in distress on the southbound portion of the highway.State police and the district attorney's office are investigating.The remains will be removed to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston for an autopsy.

BOSTON — A man is sentenced to five years in prison on multiple charges, including threatening to burn a local mosque on Facebook.Forty-six-year-old Patrick Keogan of Wilmington, Massachusetts was sentenced to five years of prison and five more of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge Douglas Woodlock.Following the Paris terrorist attack in Nov. 2015, Keogan posted threatening images to the Facebook page of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, a Roxbury mosque.
