For the legion of Republicans who abandoned Donald Trump over the weekend, recoiling in horror from comments their party’s White House nominee made about using his fame to prey on women, there is no escaping those questions.
For months, they stomached his incendiary remarks about Mexicans, Muslims, prisoners of war, a Gold Star military family and a Hispanic judge, along with offensive statements about women too numerous to count.

Mark Denning’s life fell apart two years ago when he had a stroke.
Left with a paralyzed left arm he was no longer able to work as a carpenter – a profession he’d mastered over 35 years – and he ended up losing his home when he couldn’t make ends meet. But Denning didn’t just lose his possessions; he also lost his companion, his dog.
“I lost everything I loved,” the 60-year-old said. “I had nothing.”
But all of that is about to change.

Pedestrian Domingo Arriaga Perez, 54, of Amarillo died Saturday night after being hit by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by Jose Alberto Olague, 55, as Perez was crossing East Amarillo Blvd. and Olague was driving westbound, Amarillo Police Department spokesperson Ofc. Jeb Hilton reports.
Perez was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries, APD says, and Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones has ordered an autopsy.

Terrah Jamandron and Christopher Heath, two registered nurses from Amarillo, have been recognized for their outstanding nursing practices and have been named to the “25 Great Panhandle Nurses” List for 2016.
They are both nurses at Neighbors Emergency Center Amarillo, 2015 South Western St.
Heath started in medicine as a U.S. Army medic and served an infantry deployment to Iraq in 2003. After the military, he says he did not initially plan a life in nursing.

Local artist Andi Wardlaw believes her ability to transform simple gourds into works of art derives from a spiritual connection.
“Let me begin by saying that I do not think of myself as having a talent, but as someone expressing a gift,” Wardlaw said in reference to her upcoming two-day exhibit at the Chalice Abbey Center for Spirituality and the Arts. “From the very beginning of this venture, I have had a sense that I am simply the ‘Brush in the Master’s Hand.’”

The Downtown Parking Garage and retail space are expected to be completed by March, the City of Amarillo said, and once the exteriors are complete the streetscape will begin.
On budget so far, the 24,000 square feet of retail space is designed to flex with the number of interested tenants and on the size of the space their specific use requires. Residents will see the spaces being framed out by mid-July.

Street Toyota claimed the Toyota President’s Award for the 11th time in the last 12 years based on the Soncy Road dealership’s performance throughout 2015.
Approximately 180 of the 1,200 Toyota dealerships across the United States win the President’s Award each year, Street Toyota general manager Mike Good said.
With more than 20 places to buy cars in Amarillo, Good said Street Toyota tries to stand out by making customers’ shopping experience as enjoyable as possible.
