ATLANTA — The mayor of Atlanta is joining other city and state officials in banning taxpayer-funded travel to North Carolina over its new law preventing specific anti-discrimination rules for gay and transgender people for public accommodations and restroom use.

 

Dennis King withdraws from Chatham County Probate Court judge race

Dennis King yesterday withdrew his candidacy for Chatham County Probate Court judge in the face of a challenge to his qualifications by his opponent, attorney Tom Bordeaux Jr.
Both men had qualified to run for the bench to be vacated by veteran Probate Harris Lewis’ decision not to seek re-election.
King’s action means that Bordeaux, 62-year-old former Savannah alderman, will run unopposed in the May 24 nonpartisan general election.
