The Rogers Company, an award-winning designer and manufacturer of branded environments based in Mentor, has been recognized in Exhibitor Magazine's 2018 Find It - Top 40 list, which honors the industry's top exhibit producers.More than 100 exhibit houses with offices in the United States and/or Canada applied and were subjected to an exhaustive evaluation process including more than 50 individual criteria, all weighted to reflect how Exhibitor readers and Editorial Advisory Board members value them when vetting and selecting potential partners, according to a news release.

 

Lake County commissioners appoint business owner to fill vacant Port Authority seat

The Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority has welcomed Eastlake resident Biljana Lovrinovic to its Board of Directors. The nine-member panel has been busy filling seats as the Lake County commissioners have passed several resolutions in past weeks, including the appointment of James Struna to fill the vacancy left by John Konrad, who recently stepped down.

 

Construction to begin on condos in downtown Willoughby

The City of Willoughby is one step closer to providing an influx of living space in the downtown area.Contractors and members of Willoughby's administration gathered on Aug. 31 to break ground for the new Courthouse Square located west of the Willoughby Municipal Courthouse.

Garfield National Historic Site to host naturalization ceremony

James A. Garfield National Historic Site will host an immigration naturalization ceremony at 10 a.m., Sept. 14. Approximately 25-30 immigrants who have successfully met all federal citizenship requirements will be sworn in as America's newest citizens in the shadow of President James A. Garfield's home.

 

Portion of Concord Township's Auburn Road to close

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that on Sept. 4 crews will close northbound Auburn Road between state Route 44 and Crile Road in Concord Township for approximately 30 days for pavement and median construction operations.

 

Government offices closed for Labor Day holiday

Most federal, state and local government offices will be closed Sept. 3 in observance of the Labor Day holidayThese include Wickliffe City Hall, Service Department and Community/Senior Center as well as Willowick city offices. Trash collection will be delayed one day for the entire week.It is recommended that people planning on going to a government office that day call ahead to confirm that it is open.

 

William Faehnrich named Republican candidate for 25th District Ohio Senate

Wickliffe resident William J. Faehnrich has been appointed the Republican Party's candidate to square off in November against incumbent Democrat Kenny Yuko for the State Senate 25th District seat. Faehnrich, 54, replaces Bob Murphy as the GOP candidate. Murphy

 

Garden Club of Kirtland to view gardens, install officers

The Garden Club of Kirtland's next meeting will be Sept. 6. Members will view the gardens at the home of two members and it will serve as a meet-and-greet with installation of officers, according to a news release. The officers are Marilyn Spease, president; Pat Ballo, vice president; Janet Johnson, secretary; and Marilyn Raishart, treasurer.

 

Lakeland Civic Theatre's Martin Friedman reflects on 50 shows in Kirtland

"I believe that if a show works, it's the actor's doing, and if it fails, it's my fault - and I don't think it's just because I'm Jewish and guilt and all that," says Martin Friedman, ending a sincere thought with a joke.Wearing glasses, a beard and his kind smile, the gentle-voiced Friedman is reflecting on 20 years directing shows for Lakeland Civic Theatre - the professional theater at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland - and, perhaps more notably, 50 shows.
