Mentor earns Auditor of State Award with Distinction

The City of Mentor has qualified for the Auditor of State Award with Distinction.Recent financial audits by Auditor of State Dave Yost's office returned a clean audit report for the city and its excellent record keeping has qualified them for the Auditor of State Award with Distinction, according to a news release.

 

Lake County History Center hosts talk on preserving history

Lake County Commissioner Dan Troy will join The Lake County History Center for "Ohio Open Doors" at 2 p.m., Sept. 14. Troy will be discussing why it is important to preserve Lake County History through its historic places, according to a news release. Attendees are invited to stay after the meeting for a behind-the-scenes tour of the notorious jail cells and behind the scenes of the collections.

Lake County Land Bank to clean up old gas-station property in Madison Township

The Lake County Land Reutilization Corporation, more commonly known as the Lake County Land Bank, is about to help Madison Township soothe one of its ugliest eyesores.In a recent news release, the land bank announced it has secured a $250,000 grant to clean up an abandoned gas station at the northeast corner of Chapel and Hubbard Roads.

 

Attorneys general say bill would proactively schedule fentanyl analogs

In early August, Cuyahoga County saw a surge of overdose deaths. Over the course of five days, 16 people were killed by drug overdoses. Up to that point the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office was projecting a slight decrease in the total number of such deaths for the year from a record-breaking 2017.

Concord Township adopts resolution to enact permissive motor vehicle license tax

A $5 permissive motor vehicle license tax recently passed by the Concord Township trustees will provide additional revenue to aid road maintenance projects and related equipment.The adoption of the resolution was unanimous by Trustees Chris Galloway, Connie Luhta and Paul Malchesky. The anticipated annual increase of approximately $19,995 will go toward the township's road repair program, administrator Andy Rose detailed during the Aug.
