Willoughby putt-putt course being demolished

The mountain that commuters are used to seeing at the former Putt-Putt Golf and Games is about to become a thing of the past. Demolition crews started working this week to clear away the trees, the fake mountain, and other props left behind by the former occupants to make way for a new business.

 

Macko won't appear as Libertarian candidate in U.S. House race

David Macko will not be appearing on the November ballot as a Libertarian Party candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives 14th District seat. Willowick apartment fire under investigation

No one was injured in a Willowick apartment fire that occurred Aug. 29. Willowick Fire Chief Robert Posipanka said his department received a call at 8:19 p.m. from the alarm company of a fire at Bay Club Apartments, 32002 N. Marginal Drive. Posipanka said the resident at apartment 181 awoke to smoke, but he was able to get out with his dog.

Ohio Highway Patrol to focus on impaired driving over Labor Day Weekend

The Ohio Highway Patrol plans to set their sights on impaired drivers over the upcoming holiday weekend. Troopers are urging motorists to drive safely this weekend as they prepare to focus enforcement efforts on removing impaired drivers from Ohio's roadways.During the 2017 Labor Day weekend, there were 22 fatal crashes in Ohio that killed 24 people.

In recognition of September being Suicide Prevention Month, the Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board and its Suicide Prevention Coalition will host a brief ceremony at 11:30 a.m., Sept. 4 at the gazebo on the Square in downtown Painesville. Opening remarks by Lake ADAMHS Executive Director Kim Fraser will precede presentations by the Lake County commissioners and the Ohio Governor's Office.
