Portion of westbound I-696 closed this weekend in Oakland County

A portion of I-696 will close this weekend as part of a $12 million resurfacing project in Oakland County. Westbound lanes between Dequindre and Telegraph will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, June 4. The project is being completed in four segments and requires the closure of various portions of the highway for 10 weekends.

 

Air quality concerns continue at Franklin Village Plaza

Unsatisfactory air quality results have been reported in three of the five businesses at Franklin Village Plaza in Franklin. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has advised the Oakland County Health Division to recommend a voluntary evacuation for Tailoring and More, the property formerly occupied by Fritz and Friends and to continue for The Village Boutique.

 

Oakland, Macomb county pharmacists charged in $9.6 million opioid scheme

Two Oakland County pharmacists and one from Macomb County were among six people named Thursday in a federal indictment accusing them of taking part in a three-year opioid distribution scheme that netted the group $9.6 million.According to the 35-count indictment, the scheme involved the pharmacists dispensing prescriptions for prescription drugs written by a doctor for supposed patients in exchange for cash payments.

Woan jailed for alleged domestic assault in Bloomfield Hills

A 22-year-old Northville woman landed in jail on May 29 following an alleged domestic assault in Bloomfield Hills.Bloomfield Hills police received multiple 911 calls that morning about a domestic dispute at an office building in the 100 block of Bloomfield Hills Parkway. When officers arrived shortly afterward, they identified the two people involved in the dispute and subsequently determined that a domestic assault had occurred, according to the Bloomfield Hills Police Department.

 

Downtown Auburn Hills $5,000 vacation sweepstakes offered to draw crowds during construction

Starting Friday, June 1, patrons to businesses in downtown Auburn Hills can enter to win $5,000 toward a "dream vacation."
