Medical marijuana stolen out of parked vehicle in Troy

Someone stole a lockbox containing medical marijuana out of a vehicle parked in the Planet Fitness parking lot at 288 John R Road in Troy May 27.The vehicle owner told police that her wallet, which contained her driver's license, medical marijuana card, insurance cards, debit card and $200 in cash, was also stolen.

 

Restaurant group seeks volunteers for hunger relief packaging event

A Michigan-based restaurant group is seeking volunteers to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most hunger relief packages assembled simultaneously. TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, a family-owned Michigan-based restaurant group including 11 metro Detroit MOD Pizza restaurants, is seeking 150 volunteers for a meal packaging event to be held at 10 a.

 

West Bloomfield woman sentenced in opioid dispensary/money laundering scheme

A federal judge has ordered a West Bloomfield woman to spend 18 months in prison and forfeit $429,000 of proceeds from an opioid dispensary/money laundering scheme run out of a chiropractor's office where she worked.Anna Fradlis, 63, was sentenced May 31 by U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh for laundering money from the drug operation headed by Oak Park chiropractor Boris Zigmond.

 

Trinity Health to open new urgent care, ambulatory facility in Waterford

Trinity Health is planning a new ambulatory facility for Waterford Township. The health system recently purchased a shuttered Walgreens at 4400 Highland Road. The new location, currently under renovation, will serve as a new urgent care, primary care and ambulatory feeder for St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac, according to a release from the hospital's real estate firm.

A $15,000 Fair Food Network grant will help low-income families purchase fresh, local foods at the Oakland County Farmers Market.The Double Up Food Bucks Program, implemented by the Fair Food Network based in Ann Arbor, works as a matching program that helps low-income shoppers purchase fresh, locally grown produce or vegetable plants from local farmers.

 

Heroin overdose victim refuses treatment

A 25-year-old Highland Township man was revived after overdosing on heroin Friday afternoon. Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office were sent to home on Middle Road at about 5 p.m. with a report of the overdose. When they arrived, the man was breathing on his own, his families have administered CPR.

 

Union picketers warned against interfering with AT&T employees

Disruptive union members were warned not to prevent workers from leaving a parking lot. Several calls were made to sheriff's dispatchers on Friday afternoon after Communications Workers of America members were protesting and picketing on North Mill Street at an AT&T facility. One woman called to report she was being prevented from leaving the parking lot and people were beating on her vehicle.

 

Home invasion reported in Oxford Township

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies questioned a suspect in a home invasion in Oxford Township Friday night, after a report of $2,000 in cash as well as a key fob being stolen from a home. Deputies were called to Pathfinder Road just before midnight after a woman, the 40-year-old homeowner, told police she saw someone in her vehicle and then chased them to Drahner Road.

 

Injuries to chid, 8, spark investigation

An investigation of how a child was injured is underway after hospital staff summoned police to an emergency room.Troy police were called to the emergency room at Troy Beaumont Hospital on Friday after a disturbance between a child and his mother. Staff reported the child had evidence of injuries, possibly being struck by an electrical cord.
