Waterford firefighters save kitten's life

The Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to a call about a small kitten stuck in an air conditioning unit.The kitten had wedged itself into a tiny hole in the unit, where her ear was stuck under a piece of metal. The crew tried several tools and tactics to free the kitten, including the jaws of life during the hour-long ordeal.

 

Cipriano family holds 5K six years after tragedy

Another occupied house shot up in Pontiac

Detectives with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office are investigating after shots were fired into an occupied house in Pontiac on Monday night. No injuries were reported to the four people in the house at the time, women ages 21, 23 and 59, and a man, 61.The shooting occurred at around 10:30 p.

 

Royal Oak man dead after crashing Jeep Cherokee into building on Woodward in Berkley

A Royal Oak man died after he crashed his Jeep Cherokee into a medical building on Woodward Avenue and police say he suffered a medical emergency early Tuesday that caused him to lose control of his vehicle.Police said the man, 58, crashed into the building at 28747 Woodward Ave. in Berkley, which houses the Cataract Specialty Surgical Center, south of 12 Mile Road.

 

Camp Fire Southeast Michigan to host Percy Jackson Quest Day Camp

Camp Fire Southeast Michigan will host its third Percy Jackson Quest Day Camp, offering participants the chance to dress as their favorite mythical being and "save the world."The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at Camp Wathana, 9750 Milford Road in Holly.The camp is a combination scavenger hunt and obstacle course.

 

Attempted break-in of Troy apartment

Someone apparently tried to break into an apartment in the 2000 block of Somerset Boulevard in Troy recently, but it's believed an alarm sound thwarted the attempt.According to Troy police, the resident awoke at around 7:30 a.m. on May 30 to find the apartment's doorwall ajar. It had reportedly been locked when the resident went to sleep at around midnight.

 

Pontiac trainer collecting bikes for local youth ride

One Pontiac trainer is looking to collect bicycles for local kids in hopes of curbing the childhood obesity epidemic. Jermaine Branner, otherwise known by his trainer name Max Maine, CEO and owner of Max Out Fitness in downtown Pontiac, is collecting bikes from now until Saturday, June 23rd for the second annual Activate Your Health ride.

 

Oakland County selects company to develop its connected vehicle pilot program

After six months, Oakland County is ready to make an announcement. The county has selected Ann Arbor based company P3 Mobility to finance and build its first ever pilot program to test connected vehicle infrastructure, and technology, to determine whether an innovative business model to monetize, create revenue from, that infrastructure is viable.

 

2 Farmington Hills precincts relocating for primary election

Two voting precincts in Farmington Hills will be temporarily relocated for the Aug. 7 primary election.The precincts are being moved due to building and parking lot construction at the schools where voting would normally occur.The precincts and their temporary locations are:.
