The Great Lakes National Cemetery hosts its Annual Observance of Memorial Day at l p.m. Sunday, May 27, at 4200 Belford Road, Holly Township. Sex offender from Oxford sentenced for child porn

A convicted rapist from Oxford Township has been ordered to spend the next 8-14 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to child pornography.Scott Edward Lutze, 33, was sentenced as a habitual offender May 21 by Oakland County Circuit Judge Cheryl Matthews for child abusive commercial activity distribution/promotion and child abusive commercial activity, and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

 

Thief stole family dog, TVs and more from Southfield apartment

Southfield police hope the public can help identify the thief who broke into an apartment several weeks ago and stole the family dog, as well as two televisions and other items. At approximately 1:30 p.m. on April 6, officers responded to a report of a home invasion at the Cambridge Square Apartments in the 7000 block of Greenfield Rd.

Rochester Hills man bound over to circuit court for firing shotgun at teen boy

The Rochester Hills man charged with firing his shotgun at a teenager who reportedly came to his home to get directions to school in April has been bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court.Jeffrey Zeigler, 53, waived his right to a preliminary exam Tuesday before Judge Julie Nicholson of Rochester Hills' 52-3 District Court.

 

Two Rochester Hills schools closed due to water quality concerns

Van Hoosen Middle School and Rochester Adams High School are closed after mercury was reportedly found in the water at Van Hoosen Middle School. According to the city of Rochester Hills, city officials were contacted by the Rochester Community School District Monday regarding a concern about the water quality at Van Hoosen Middle School.

City of Farmington Hills wants to hear opinions on parks, recreation

The city of Farmington Hills is conducting a survey on its parks, recreation and programs until June 15.The city's Department of Special Services completes a Parks & Recreation Master Plan every five years in accordance with guidelines from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.Completion of the plan helps chart the course for projected future needs and makes the city eligible for funding through the DNR.
