Mike Koehler was promoted to fire staff lieutenant at the Troy Fire Department. He was previously a fire staff technician. Koehler joined the Troy Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter at Fire Station #2 in 1999. He was promoted to career fire staff technician in 2012 and to volunteer station lieutenant at Station #2 in 2016.

Rahul Reddy has been a busy eighth-grader for the past few weeks.Reddy will represent Oakland County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., beginning Tuesday, May 29.He has also been busy preparing for school final exams, said his mother, Preetham. Reddy is a student at Notre Dame Preparatory School and Marist Academy in Pontiac.

Lyon Township wants to ensure it has a plan in place to guide the development of its parks and recreation facilities and programming over the next five years.The township is in the very early stages of a six-month process to develop its 2019-2023 parks and recreation master plan, which will serve as a development planning tool for officials and help reaffirm the township's goals and objectives relating to parks and recreation.

Brandon School District will now outsource bus drivers to transportation company First Student. The final decision came at the board of education May 21 meeting. According to the Citizen newspaper of Ortonville, Diane Salter, president, Bob Eisminger, vice president, Marianne Dwyer, secretary and trustees Lisa Kavalhuna and John Chartier voted in favor of outsourcing while trustee Kevin McClellan and treasurer Debbie Brady voted against it.

Kim Kersten, group manager for Comerica's Business Banking - East Group, has been promoted to director of Business Banking for the bank's Michigan Market. She succeeds Mike Cope, who is retiring after more than 33 years with Comerica. Kersten will report to Mark Simmons, executive director of Business Banking.

The Road Commission for Oakland County approved spending $6.2 million on six road projects that will result in 20 miles of new pavement. The projects include five resurfacing projects in Rose, Springfield and Holly Townships and the resurfacing of South Boulevard between Crooks and Adams in Rochester Hills and Troy.
