Heavy prison sentence coming for man convicted of Norwalk home invasion

STAMFORD-Despite the state’s star witness near refusal to take the stand, a jury last week found a Bridgeport man guilty of the home invasion, burglary and the assault of his Norwalk girlfriend.

When the victim took the stand on the day the trial started Tuesday, June 27, she told the jury, judge and prosecutor that she did not want to be there to answer questions about the night she was brutally attacked inside her Laura Street home on Dec.

No money gets woman stabbed during robbery in Stamford

STAMFORD-Within five minutes of responding to call for a woman stabbed in the chest during a robbery in the South End Monday afternoon city police apprehended the suspect trying to flee the scene.

Donell “Lucky” Blake, 40, of Stone Ridge Circle, Stamford, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and first-degree assault.

“This was an example of excellent police work by officer Soderholm and numerous officers from A Squad which led to the arrest of a violent suspect, with a lengthy criminal history, all within of 5 minutes of the call being given out,” Hohn said in a press releas

 

Stamford library launches ‘augmented reality’ project

“Augmented Reality allows users to superimpose a computer-generated image on a view of the real world, creating their own composite view,” according to the library.

The ARtscapes project invites kids, teens and adults to draw an original picture on a clear sheet of acetate that will then be scanned and uploaded to BlippAR, a free AR app.

 

City man struck in leg in Sunday shooting on West Side

STAMFORD — A 40-year-old city man was struck in his left calf when a gunman opened fire on Richmond Hill Avenue late Sunday afternoon, according to police. Police recovered six shell casings from the area and witnesses said the suspect was last seen running south on Taylor Street, Barcello said.

 

Westport bank robbed Sunday

WESTPORT — A man with a scruffy bear and wearing a baseball cap robbed the TD Bank branch on the Post Road Sunday, making off with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’1 with a heavy build, scruffy beard and wearing a Chicago Bulls baseball cap.

 

Two people murdered in Bridgeport Sunday morning

Police said at about 2:14 a.m officers were called to a neighbor dispute at 950-952 State Street that turned violent, resulting in one man being shot.

While police investigated that homicide, another fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of 140 Alice Street at 4:27 a.m. The victim lived in the building.

 

Residents take city to task over parking fiasco

After a long hiatus, officials voted Thursday to bring back the once-popular program with changes designed to help the city better determine which streets qualify. Brothers arrested after fight outside Brother Jimmy’s

STAMFORD — Two intoxicated brothers kicked out of a downtown watering hole Thursday night were arrested after fighting with officers and presenting them with fake IDs, police said.

When asked for ID, they presented officers with fake driver’s licenses from Ireland and the United Kingdom, police said.

The brothers were each charged with second-degree forgery, assault on an officer, interfering with an officer and creating a public disturbance.
