Pedestrian abducted and robbed on West Side of Stamford

Investigators were out on the city’s East and West sides Tuesday looking for video cameras that may contain video that would help identify the assailants.

No suspects have been found and the Stamford resident refused medical treatment when medics got there.

 

Stamford mayor curbs use of city cars

Signal problems cause up to 90 minute Metro North delays

Metro North is reporting delays of up to 90 minutes due to signal problems on the New Haven line.

Around 6 a.m. Saturday Metro North reported that New Haven line customers should expect indefinite delays due to signal problems. Delays were updated to be about 90 minutes around 10 a.m.

The signal problems caused delays of about 45 minutes for the Danbury, New Canaan and Waterbury branch services.

Danbury and New Canaan branch service were back on schedule at about 10:30 a.m. but Waterbury and New Haven service are still experiencing delays.

Stamford man charged with ongoing sexual assault of minor girl

STAMFORD-A homeless man was tracked down Thursday night and charged with the years long sexual abuse of a minor girl, police said.

Danillo Palma, 40, of no known address was charged with felony counts first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Barcello said he was unable to talk about the exact allegations of the complaint against Palma and did not want to say anything that would lead to the victim’s identity being made public.

 

Woman robbed a gunpoint with infant child in Stamford

Lt. Tom Barcello said officers are looking for a black male in his 30s with a medium build who was wearing a North Face jacket when he threatened a woman with a gun in an underground parking lgarage on Harvard Avenue.

Barcello said the robbery was very unusual and few if any have been reported in that area where a four-story office building is located with the underground garage.

 

Former Saks Off 5th cashier charged with credit card fraud

According to her three-page arrest warrant, a Saks Off 5th loss prevention officer reported to police in May 2016 that Davis completed $6,024 in fraudulent transactions with an unknown man at the Stamford store a few days earlier and the purchases were caught on video tape.

The affidavit said prior to the sales, six failed credit card approvals were attempted, indicating multiple likely stolen or canceled credit cards were attempted to have charges put upon them.

 

Man charged with threatening couple in Stamford

Over the intervening weeks, police were able to identify the man and obtained a signed warrant for the arrest of Jairo Muralles, 19, of Courtland Avenue.

Police served the warrant at Muralles Courtland Avenue home just after 4 p.m. and he was charged with first-degree threatening and is being held in lieu of a $50,000 court appearance bond.

 

Apartment fire reported in Stamford

STAMFORD-Police and firefighters are on Southfield Avenue fighting a working fire in a five-story apartment building.

The Waterside fire was called in at 12:50 and soon after a second alarm was struck on the blaze.

Stamford’s Chief Fire Marshall Charles Spaulding said the blaze is a working fire.

Police have closed down parts of Southfield Avenue to allow firefighters easier access to the blaze.. Radio reports indicate the blaze is on the second floor of building number two of Anchor Point Apartments at 150 Southfield Avenue.

Two fire marshals are in route to the fire.

 

Homeless man charged with fondling, robbery of restaurant worker in Stamford

STAMFORD-A homeless man was charged with the early morning purse snatching and fondling of a West Side restaurant worker, police said.

Later in the day just past 5:30 p.m., police arrested Ovidio Jaurez-Gudiel, 29, and charged him with third-degree robbery and fourth-degree sexual assault.
