Francisvale Pet of the Week: Elsa

As pretty as her pretty little name, our Elsa is a gorgeous, sophisticated senior with personality plus. Elsa loves her people all. the. time. and will graciously keep you company as you go about your daily domicile duties. She's a real fan of the two-legged variety of critters and is okey dokey with other cat characters, but she draws the line when it comes to the canine variety of creatures.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Pookie

1-year-old male Domestic Shorthair Meet Pookie, the handsome boy with the cute name looking for a home he can live the rest of his life in. Pookie is black and white, with a unique spot next to his little nose that makes him different than everyone else. He was rescued from a local overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where he is now playing with his other cat friends who are also looking for forever homes.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Tiny

2-year-old male Mixed Breed Say hello to Tiny, the little guy who is looking for a place he belongs in this great big world. He is tan and black with large ears that stand at attention. Tiny was rescued from a southern overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, were he is now waiting for someone to change his life in a big way.

 

PLDP Pets of the Week: Gianna, Tink

Gianna is a very shy Terrier blend. She loves to lay around and to be with her sister. She was rescued from a beach in Puerto Rico. She is 10 lbs. She has done well with kids of all ages. It does take her awhile to trust her human friends as she is just scared. She currently lives with two other dogs and a small child.

 

Upper Darby's Mark Cairns is immersed in Colonial History

Mark Cairns spends his summer days outdoors, roaming through Philadelphia's historic district, listening to entertaining stories about colonial Philadelphia.It sounds like fun, but it's also his summer job. Cairns, who lives in Upper Darby, is the supervisor for trained storytellers who relate stories about actual events in colonial times that happened at a particular site.

100 Years Ago - 1918: The city of Chester has gone over the top in bonds, war chest funds and W.S.S. stamps, and now it expects to go over the top in its 10-day campaign for enlistments of young women in the United States Student Reserve. There will be a mighty turnout of citizens of the city and surrounding county at the patriotic rally tomorrow night at the Deshong mansion.
