100 Years Ago - 1918: The automobile congestion along Chester Pike from Darby to the first toll gate at Eddystone is getting to such a point that some traffic system is needed to prevent accidents. With the building of the new trolley road traffic has increased almost 50 percent, and because each and every driver makes their own rules, smash-ups are becoming everyday occurrences.

 

PLDP Pet of the Week: Sir Washington

Sir Washington first came to Peace Love & Doggie Paws when a good Samaritan found him at the approx age of 4-weeks old with terrible eye infections which his one eye remains scared from this. SW is now 3-months old and is a handful that likes to lovingly torment all the other animals in the house, he is enjoying life.

Summer still has her puppy on, at just 11-months old, and is just as snuggly, lovable, and sweet as you would ever want. Summer is a happy-go-lucky, spirited terrier mix who will happily share her joie de vivre with her new best friend. She will make you laugh as you watch her playfully splash around in her doggie bowl.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Hoover

1-year-old male Mixed Breed Say hello to Hoover, the dashingly handsome boy who is looking for a special home where he is loved and his needs are met. Hoover has two different-colored eyes and a sand-colored coat. Some say he looks like he is mixed with Husky. Hoover was rescued from a southern overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where he is being a good boy until he finds a home.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Jason

1-year-old male Domestic Shorthair Say hello to Jason, the friendly boy who is hoping he finds a place where he fits in and is loved unconditionally. He is black and white, with a freckle on his nose and bright green eyes. Jason was rescued from a southern overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where he is being his outgoing self until someone awesome comes along and rescues him.

 

AFL Pet of the Week: Chester

Little Chester loves to sit and cuddle on your chest, which is how he got his name. He turned up one day in a managed colony of community cats but clearly didn't belong there. He looked like a tiny kitten at just over two pounds, hungry and sweet, but the vets said he was six months old! Chester is doing great in his foster home--healthy, neutered, up to date on vet care, and has already doubled his weight.

 

From rock to Sinatra - Jersey Shore pops concerts are underway

There's a special one for music lovers in Cape May ? concerts by the Jersey Shore Pops..Now in its 10th season, the 29 piece orchestra presents programs of classical and popular music headlined by guest artists. This season of four concerts got underway on July 14 and continues with three more concerts presented at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.
