Lima mayoral forum to be held Sept. 12

LIMA — Lima/Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership will host a public Lima mayoral candidate forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12 in the fellowship hall of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 209 W. North St., Lima.
Moderated by Matthew Kinkley, Director of the Workforce Development Board of Auglaize, Hardin, Mercer and Van Wert Counties, the forum will feature both incumbent Mayor David Berger and challenger Keith Cheney.

 

Tri-Moraine Audubon Society holding September meeting

LIMA — The Tri-Moraine Audubon Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Ohio State Lima’s Visitors and Student Service Center, 4240 Campus Drive, Lima.
Speaker for the meeting is Dr. David Zuwerink on “People and Rivers: How people influence aquatic life in Dug Run on the University of Northwestern Ohio campus.”

Church groups to hold breakfast for business owners

LIMA — A team of missionaries and volunteers partnering with local churches in Allen County will hold a free breakfast for business owners and employees who want to share in the Gospel and learn about Jesus Christ.
The organization, operating locally as reviveOhio, will host the breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at Old Barn Out Back, 3175 W. Elm St., Lima.
The mission of reviveOhio is to unite local churches by equipping believers with the tools to travel into the community, pray for people, share the Gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

 

Commissioners from Auglaize, Mercer counties head to White House meeting

COLUMBUS — More than 80 county commissioners and other local officials from around Ohio were anticipated at a White House meeting aimed at building stronger relationships between President Donald Trump and U.S. communities.
Local commissioners attending included Auglaize County’s Doug Spencer and Mercer County’s Rick Muhlenkamp.

 

VFW Post 1275 plans Friday night dinners

LIMA — The Veterans of Foreign War Post 1275 is hosting a series of dinners on Friday nights for the month of September. An all you can eat fish dinner will be held at 5 p.m., Sept. 15, at the VFW, 124 E. Elm St., Lima. Price is $8 and the public is welcome.
Carry-out is available for the dinners, which open at 5 p.m. on Fridays.

BLUFFTON — Joel Agner, of Bluffton, is hosting a restoration agriculture workshop from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at his farm, 20527 Township Road 56, Bluffton. Cost is $300 and includes snacks and coffee on Friday.
There will be a program from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17 at the farm, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
