Retired Hancock County Judge’s donation opens lecture hall

ADA — A gift from Judge Allan H. Davis to Ohio to Northern University College of Law was used to renovate a classroom into a law lecture hall, bearing his name.
The room in Tilton Hall of Law can accommodate more than 70 students after the renovations Davis’s gift made possible. A dedication ceremony for the hall was held Aug. 22.

 

ONU holds Multicultural Reception

ADA — Ohio Northern University held the annual Opening the Way Multicultural Reception on Tuesday evening.
The reception is held to give students from diverse backgrounds, domestic and international, the opportunity to meet ONU students and faculty.
During the reception 33 new international students and 77 new Dimension Award Scholars were recognized.

 

ONU math professor’s research published

ADA — Mathematics research from an Ohio Northern University professor and students has now been published for educators and advanced mathematics students.

Stocks climb as stronger economic growth cheers investors

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks climbed Wednesday as investors cheered a report of stronger economic growth. Technology companies, retailers and travel providers all made solid gains.

 

Ohio Northern eyes bounce back year in football

ADA — It was one of those years at Ohio Northern.
Several times it appeared the Polar Bears were on the path to victory, when suddenly the bottom would drop out via a key turnover or other snafu.
In the end, the Polar Bears finished 5-5 (5-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference). That was coming off a 9-3 year in 2015.

 

Wright State update planned at Sept. 13 St. Marys Rotary meeting

ST. MARYS — St. Marys Rotary will meet at noon Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Eagles, 404 E. Spring St., St. Marys.
The featured speaker is Jay Albayyari, giving an update on Wright State.

Chris Erskine: Life is oddly back to normal

We’re recovering from vacation — a form of detox — where we reluctantly wash the ketchup stains off our T-shirts and stuff the suitcases away till Christmas. It’s like cleaning up after a bar mitzvah, quiet now except for the sweet pings of empty wine bottles — a time for wistfulness and reflection.
