Boys basketball: Mark Morris 58, Washougal 53

Rarey Sommer scored 23 points as the Monarchs held out to win.
Mark Morris led 27-17 at halftime, but Washougal cut the lead to 44-41 after three.
Dalton Payne’s two free throws tied the game 51-51 with less than two minutes to play. But back-to-back baskets by Jack Shipley helped the Monarchs reclaim the lead.
Carter Murray led Washougal with 18 points.

Inslee proposes statewide Broadband Office, $25 million initial investment

OLYMPIA — The creation of a statewide Broadband Office and an initial investment of $25 million into getting broadband into “every nook and cranny” was announced by Gov. Jay Inslee on Wednesday.
“We know the reality on the ground is that there are just too many places that do not have access,” said Inslee. “So we know that fundamentally the digital divide should not and will not be able to divide those haves and have-nots when it comes to digital and broadband access.”
