Girls basketball: Stevenson 64, Seton Catholic 60

Kaitlyn Wenz scored eight of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs held off the host Cougars.
Katie Rathgeber added 19 points and hit two key free throws in the final minute to keep Seton at bay. Stevenson (11-4, 4-1) trailed midway through the third quarter, but outscored Seton 20-15 in the fourth.
Wenz also had 12 rebounds and five steals. Rathgeber added six rebounds and three steals.
Jasmine Morgan had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Seton (6-9, 1-4).

Judge blames deadly California wildfires on PG&E’s uninsulated power conductors

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A federal judge Thursday blamed uninsulated power conductors owned by PG&E for the bulk of Northern California’s wildfires the past two years — including the deadly Camp fire in Butte County — adding to the legal woes the utility is confronting.

 

Google to buy power from solar farms in South

Google plans to buy power from Tennessee and Alabama solar farms under a deal with the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Google announced Wednesday that it will buy 413 megawatts of output from 1.6 million solar panels at several new Tennessee and Alabama solar farms the combined size of 65,000 home rooftop systems. The two largest will be able to produce about 150 megawatts each in Hollywood, Ala., and Yum Yum, Tenn.

 

Netflix subscriptions rise, fall short of estimates

Netflix subscriptions increased 26 percent to nearly 139.3 million in the fourth quarter, as the streaming giant continued to attract customers and bolster its library of original programming.
Despite the strong results, the company still faces head winds. Netflix will probably lose licensed content from 21st Century Fox and Walt Disney Co. when Disney launches its own streaming service, which will put more pressure on Netflix to harness its original programs to keep subscribers happy.
Netflix also recently announced another price increase.

 

Nissan to cut contract workers in Mississippi

Nissan Motor Co. announced Thursday that it’s cutting up to 700 contract workers at its Mississippi assembly plant, citing slowing sales for vans and Titan pickup trucks that it makes there.

 

YouTube policy change bans dangerous prank videos

YouTube is cracking down on harmful or dangerous pranks. Updated policies no longer allow challenges that present “an apparent risk of death” and ban content featuring children “participating in dangerous challenges that pose an imminent risk of injury or bodily harm.”
YouTube also says it is drawing the line on content that “intends to incite violence or encourage dangerous or illegal activities” that have a risk of serious harm or death.

 

Clark County Public Health confirms 16 measles cases, five suspected cases

On Thursday, Clark County Public Health announced 16 confirmed cases of measles with 5 more suspected cases.
