The Rockies have shown some occasional growth spurts lately. Emphasis on occasional. Over the weekend, they won two of three games in Milwaukee to capture just their third road series win of the season. But their growth has been stunted in Motown against a red-hot Tigers team still hunting for a wild-card playoff berth.

Just two games into the season, the Colorado football team is already facing some of the same questions it faced a year ago, especially up front on offense. Denver rookie running back Audric Estime’s debut hit a speed bump after three snaps. The fifth-round draft pick carried twice for 14 yards Sunday against Seattle but played sparingly. Then Wednesday the Broncos placed him on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Estime is not expected to have surgery, a source said, but the IR placement means he’ll miss a minimum of four games.
