Oprah Winfrey is used to running the show, whether it was her hit daytime TV program or the fledgling cable channel named for her and which she rules as chairman and chief executive. But this week's Oprah Winfrey Network shakeup, which included a 20 percent staff layoff, thrusts her into a new dynamic: power-sharing with a top executive from the company that's bankrolled OWN with $300 million-plus.

Oprah Winfrey's OWN network is pulling the curtain on "The Rosie Show" after five months on the air.

The show says it was misled by Mike Daisey, whose one-man show "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs" was the basis of a program that aired in January. Mr. Daisey responded, "I stand by my work."

Back in the day, watching television was as simple as hitting a switch, maybe messing with some rabbit ears and flipping through all eight of your channel choices. The sound wasn't so great, and the picture was kind of grainy, but at least it was simple.

If you had your money on Monday, Sept. 10, as the day and date that Katie Couric would debut her new nationally syndicated talk show, you’ve won the office pool. In a webcast Thursday to TV stations that have bought “Katie” for their lineups — including WJLA (Channel 7) in Washington — the show’s executive producer, Jeff Zucker, unveiled the “Katie” logo, which looks suspiciously like the old Oprah-show logo. Except, of course, Katie’s name starts with a “K,” so the big circle around her name is technically not an “O,” but just an incomplete bit of “O”-ness.

HBO has canceled its racetrack drama “Luck” after a third horse died during production of the show. “It is with heartbreak that executive producers David Milch and Michael Mann together with HBO have decided to cease all future production on the series ‘Luck,’ ” the premium cable network said in a statement late Wednesday.

"Gentle giant" Jermaine Jones was indeed kicked off on Wednesday for bad behavior, but he’s not the only finalist in trouble.

Jermaine Jones is apparently out on "American Idol." The 25-year-old vocal instructor from Pine Hill, N.J., tweeted Tuesday night that he would no longer be on the Fox singing contest. He wrote on his official "Idol" Twitter account: "Ahttp://www I will no longer b on the show," but the post was later deleted.
