Today's north Alabama weather: Storm chances continue in afternoon and evening; high near 84

Most areas should remain dry but there is a 50 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms, mainly after 11 a.m. Those chances will continue in the evening but should not last overnight. The highest rain chances will exist over northwest Alabama. Gusty winds, heavy rain and small hail will be the biggest threats with any thunderstorms that develop.

 

Fire damages Madison home Thursday morning

Crews in Madison battled a house fire Thursday morning at 200 Prairie Drive.

 

Crews battle fire at vacant home in southwest Huntsville

Huntsville Fire & Rescue dispatch said the call came in shortly before 10 p.m. and no injuries were reported. AL.com's news partner, WHNT News 19, reports there is moderate damage and witnesses say they saw a man running from the home when it started. Read WHNT's story here.

 

Motorist seriously injured in front of south Huntsville movie theater

Police say a pickup truck lost control and crashed into a pole in front of the Carmike Valley Bend 18 movie theater close to 11 p.m. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

 

Harvest woman's dog dies after alerting her to house fire

Madison County fire crews responded to the house in the 200 block of Salvia Court at about 9:30 and found heavy smoke and flames. They got the fire out but say the home is a total loss.

 

Decatur man wanted by police for probation revocation

Police arrested Fuqua last week on felony domestic violence charges. Police say his bond was then revoked in Decatur Municipal Court.
