Family member joins Brooks board

Colin Brooks, of Minneapolis, has joined the board of Bend-based Brooks Resources Corp., representing the fifth generation of his family to serve on the board of the company or its former parent, Brooks-Scanlon Inc.Colin Brooks works for another family company, Sawmill Private Management, according to a news release. His father, Conley Brooks Jr., and grandfather, Conley Brooks Sr., are also members of the Brooks Resources board of directors.

Body pulled from Crooked River

A body was recovered from the Crooked River and had not yet been identified on Tuesday.According to a media release from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, the county’s dispatch center received a call at 12:23 p. m.

Chance improves; adoption months away; Video: Update on the injured dog

After several medical procedures, Chance is progressing better than expected, according to Chris Bauersfeld, executive director at BrightSide Animal Center in Redmond.Last month, the pit bull mix was found severely injured along a road in Terrebonne. Chance was so badly injured that it was uncertain whether he would survive.

Shepard gift brings iPads to more Bend schools

A quarter-million dollar gift from Hoodoo Ski Area owner Chuck Shepard will allow Bend-La Pine Schools to expand its digital conversion program.The gift came through the sale of stock and totaled nearly $262,000. The money will allow the district to expand its digital conversion pilot to Lava Ridge Elementary and Buckingham Elementary.
