Man floating river goes through spillway

A man floating the river on Sunday evening traveled through the Colorado Avenue Dam spillway, but survived and was able to get out of the river on his own.According to Bend Police Sgt. Jason Maniscalco, police and the Bend Fire Department received a call at 6:12 p. m. that a middle-aged man had gone through the spillway.

DUII charge after car hits homes

A man who struck two houses with his vehicle early Saturday morning faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to Bend Police.Officers were called at around 3:30 a. m. after a Toyota SUV driven by Russell Patrick Campbell, 34, of Bend, struck neighboring houses at 48 S.W. Man accused of robbing sex shop

A man suspected of attempting to rob a sex shop early Saturday was captured later in the morning, according to Bend Police.In a news release, police said Lucas Ray Evans, 30, of Bend, had been at Imagine That, an adult video and novelty store on Third Street, for a little over an hour when he stepped out briefly at around 1 a.m.

 

Alleged robber quickly caught

Bend Police located and arrested a man suspected of robbing the Dutch Brothers Coffee on Northeast 27th Street on Friday night minutes after he fled on foot.Police were called around 7:25 p. m. by an employee who reported a man had threatened workers inside the coffee hut and demanded money.

 

Warm Springs crash injures 1

A Milwaukie man was seriously injured in a vehicle crash on U. S. Highway 26 west of the Warm Springs Reservation on Saturday morning.Tyler Van Vactor, 19, was transported to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland by helicopter following the crash at around 10:45 a. m. According to Oregon State Police, Van Vactor was westbound when he stopped his Volkswagen Jetta in order to make a left turn on a Forest Service road. Richard G.

 

Police say man caught after pursuit

A La Pine resident was captured with help from a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office dog following a pursuit south of Sunriver on Saturday.According to Oregon State Police, Craig A. Marcum, 48, refused to stop when an OSP wildlife trooper attempted to pull over his vehicle on suspicion of traffic violations at around 3:11 p.m.

 

Delays at Redmond Airport

Short-range flights around the West were disrupted, including connections between San Francisco and the Redmond Airport.Three scheduled flights involving Skywest Airlines in or out of Redmond were canceled Saturday: a San Francisco-bound flight scheduled to depart at 1:11 p.

 

Relief nurseries will merge

Two local relief nurseries aimed at preventing child abuse are merging. MountainStar Family Relief Nursery in Bend and Juniper Junction Relief Nursery in Madras have combined.
