Savannah's Toucan Cafe to close

Toucan Cafe is shutting down after 22 years in Savannah.
The cafe, at 531 Stephenson Ave, announced the closing Wednesday afternoon on Facebook, and it will serve its last meal today. .
“We are so grateful to all of our wonderful, loyal customers who have dined with us over the years. It has become increasingly difficult to manage the Toucan and Sweet Potatoes Kitchen simultaneously, with all the demands of staffing, maintenance, and serving the high quality food that our customers have grown to expect,” the post read.

Qualifying ends for Chatham County elected offices

The competition came out in force during the final four hours of election qualifying in Chatham County on Friday.
District 3 Commissioner Tony Center joined incumbent Al Scott in the race for chairman of the county commission. Both qualified as Democrats.
In District 2, meanwhile, former District 2 Savannah City Council candidate Detric Leggett qualified to run against incumbent Commissioner James “Coach” Holmes.
