Search firms narrowed in bid to hire new Savannah city manager

Members of a City Council committee working to find a replacement for Savannah’s top administrator have decided they will meet with a Florida firm they hope can help with a nationwide search.
Alderman Van Johnson, who heads the committee to find a successor for outgoing City Manager Stephanie Cutter, said Daytona-based Colin Baenzinger & Associates was the standout of four professional search services companies vetted by former top local administrators and Savannah’s Purchasing Department.

 

Filming of 'Baywatch' rankles businesses on Tybee Island

The stars will descend on Tybee Island in a few weeks for filming of the big budget movie “Baywatch,” but not all islanders have gotten caught up in the Hollywood glitz and glamour.
Some city officials and business owners are taking issue with a recent change to the scope of the project, which expands the amount of public space that will be needed for the movie during one of the island’s busiest times of the year.
