Savannah's Toucan Cafe to close

Toucan Cafe is shutting down after 22 years in Savannah. The cafe, at 531 Stephenson Ave, announced the closing Wednesday afternoon on Facebook, and it will serve its last meal today. . “We are so grateful to all of our wonderful, loyal customers who have dined with us over the years. It has become increasingly difficult to manage the Toucan and Sweet Potatoes Kitchen simultaneously, with all the demands of staffing, maintenance, and serving the high quality food that our customers have grown to expect,” the post read. Toucan, a Greek fusion restaurant, serves everything from Caribbean jerk chicken to gyros and juicy steaks, but fans won’t have to travel far to find its sister restaurant, Sweet Potatoes, which opened in September 2001.
