Boys basketball: Woodland 46, Ridgefield 37

Tyler Flanagan scored 19 of his game-high 27 points to lead Woodland to a big league win.
With head coach Andrew Johnson absent following the birth of his child, longtime La Center coach Forbes Lapp came in to help on the bench for the Beavers.
After Ridgefield rallied back into the game in the second quarter, the Beavers found a mismatch and exploited it. Flanagan scored 19 of Woodland’s 23 second-half points.
Matt Game paced the Spudders with 11 points.

Boys basketball: Washougal 37, R.A. Long 35

Carter Murray made a layup with five second to play to lift the Panthers to a 2A Greater St. Helens League win.
R.A. Long got off a 3-pointer at the buzzer, but it was off the mark.
Murray led Washougal with 12 points, and Brevan Bea added 10. Murray had seven of his points in the final quarter.
The win moved Washougal (6-9, 3-4) into sole possession of fourth place in the 2A GSHL.

Umpqua rallies past Clark College mens basketball

Despite 20 points from Parker Gaddis, the Clark men’s basketball team fell to Umpqua 76-67 on Saturday at O’Connell Sports Center.
Clark led 33-29 at halftime. But Umpqua (12-6, 5-0) shot 60-percent from the field in the second half.
Matt Garrison had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Clark (10-6, 2-3).

Taylor Mills scored 22 points but the Clark women’s basketball team lost to Umpqua 96-70 at O’Connell Sports Center.

 

Girls basketball: Washougal 56, R.A. Long 30

Beyonce Bea had 21 points and 17 rebounds as the Panthers moved a step closer to the 2A Greater St. Helens League title with a home win.
The Panthers (12-4, 8-0) can clinch a share of the league title Tuesday with a win over Ridgefield or a loss by second-place Woodland (4-3).
Washougal coach Britney Knotts said her team has a one-game-at-a-time approach.
But that doesn’t mean the Panthers aren’t savoring each win as they roll through league play, having outscored opponents by an average of 27.6 points per game.

 

Girls basketball: La Center 52, Kalama 42

The Wildcats outscored Kalama 20-3 in the third quarter to rally for a non-league win at home.
Trailing 27-19 at halftime, La Center was a different team after the break.
“We changed up our defense and decided to wake up,” Wildcats coach Herm VanWeerdhuizen said.
Lauren Fox sparked La Center in the third quarter, scoring eight of her 14 points. Taylor Stephens had a game-high 19 points along with seven rebounds.
