New timetables for the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven line Metro North trains will go into effect Sunday.

Metro North announced that some adjustments will allow infrastructure work to continue on the rails while some recently-completed track work will return trains to their normal schedules.

On the Hudson line, weekday trains departing form Croton-Harmon at 5:15 a.m., 5:40 a.m., 6:37 a.m. and 8:12 a.m. will operate one minute earlier. In the evening, the 6:59 p.m. train will depart from Grand Central four minutes earlier at 6:55 and the 7:21 p.m.

STAMFORD — A body has been recovered in Stamford Harbor after residents reported seeing a man who disappeared while swimming Friday morning.

Capt. Richard Conklin said the man has been rushed to Stamford Hospital. He said he did not know if the man was alive or dead.

Conklin said calls began coming in to 911 about the man at about 11:15 a.m. Friday from residents on Harbor Drive and Downs Avenue.

A floating wallet in the water was recovered by a witness who was trying to help the man, police said.

STAMFORD-After only three hours of deliberation on DNA evidence alone, a Stamford jury on Thursday convicted a New Haven man of using a gun to rob a Greenwich Cosi restaurant in 2010.

The jury convicted ex-con Jermaine Adams, 44, of armed robbery solely on DNA evidence taken from a straw found at the scene of the crime..

“He is disappointed in the outcome,” said his defense attorney Dan Ford.

STAMFORD-City police investigating an attempted car burglary on Stamford’s West Side arrested a 19-year-old city man and charged him with carrying a loaded pistol early Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said patrol officers were pulling up to the corner of Diaz and Piave streets at about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday when they spotted a man walking east on Piave Street. As they pulled up to the corner they saw the man pull on the door handle of a car as went.

STAMFORD-A San Diego, California woman turned herself over to Stamford police and was charged Wednesday with depositing a forged check for $110,000 into her bank account.

Police say the money belonged to a 61-year-old Stamford man, who unbeknownst to him had the money transferred out of his local Wells Fargo bank account.

Sgt. Steve Perrotta said the complaint originated in early February when a city man complained to police that the money had been taken from his account.

Police quickly determined that the forged check had been written to Nanette Hayes, 62, of San Diego.

STAMFORD — New York police have identified a 16-year-old boy who they say crashed into several cop cars as he drove across the state line this week in a stolen pickup.

Stamford resident Dereck Ramirez has been charged in New York with criminal possession of stolen property, attempted second-degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

New York State Police said Ramirez struck three Stamford police cars, including slamming into one head-on that caused the stolen pickup truck he was driving to flip over Monday night in Pound Ridge, N.Y.

STAMFORD — Americares, the Stamford-based disaster relief and global health organization, delivered a planeload of medical aid to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Sunday, where the nonprofit has stationed emergency response teams in the wake of Hurricane Maria. The nonprofit delivered over 3 tons of medicine and supplies from its Stamford distribution center. It’s working with the island’s department of health to distribute supplies to hospitals and clinics. Puerto Rico has been without power and water since the hurricane made landfall Sept. 20.

STAMFORD-Three city men have been charged with beating and threatening a man with a knife behind a West Side bodega on Monday afternoon, police said.

Sgt. Jennifer Lynch said police were called to the Richmond Hill Mini Market on Monday just before 2 p.m. on the report of a group of teenagers fighting behind the store.

When officers got there they talked to a man who said he witnessed the fight involving three young men surrounding a 36-year-old Hispanic men with their knives drawn.

STAMFORD-The trial of a New Haven man charged with tying up a Cosi restaurant employee during an armed robbery in 2010 is set to begin in front of a jury Tuesday morning at the Stamford courthouse.

The trial will determine whether a Stamford jury will convict a man on DNA evidence alone, with no corroborating evidence.

The defendant, Jermaine Adams, 44, of Chapel Street, remains in custody unable to post a $500,000 bond since his arrest in 2015 -almost five years after the robbery took place.

His attorney Dan Ford declined comment on the upcoming trial at the courthouse on Monday.

STAMFORD-Stamford police are kicking off their Coffee With a Cop effort this Autumn with two, count ‘em two, coffee klatches with the men and women in blue on Wednesday Oct. 4.

First, community outreach officers and district sergeants will be at Starbucks in the Ridgeway Shopping Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The second event will take place at Dunkin’ Donuts at 979 East Main Street from noon to 2 p.m.

The informal community meetings coincide with Wednesday’s National Coffee With a Cop day.

The Coffee With a Cop effort in Stamford began in March 2017.
