Water main ruptures in Corvallis as nights stay cold

CORVALLIS — Officials in Corvallis say the rupture of a 12-inch-diameter water main sent water pouring through a neighborhood and into the basements of several homeowners.

 

Lonnie Iholts named CED of Siuslaw Bank

Johan Mehlum, one of the founders of Siuslaw Bank, has stepped down as CEO, a position he has held for 49 years. Bank President Lonnie Iholts, a longtime Siuslaw employee, replaces Mehlum, who will remain chairman of the board.

 

Two new restaurants opening at Valley River Center

Valley River Center will soon have two new eateries. Texas Roadhouse and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery are both building restaurants in the parking lot at the front of the mall, shopping center managers said Friday. It will be the first restaurant for Texas Roadhouse in this area.

 

Two injured in morning crash

Two people were injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 at Awbrey Lane near the Eugene Airport, according to Oregon State Police. Garrett Zeek, 19, of Junction City, was cited for failure to yield right of way in the 11:15 a.m. crash.

FLORENCE — Siuslaw Financial Group, the parent company of Siuslaw Bank, Friday reported a fourth quarter profit of $957,000, more than triple the $240,000 profit recorded for the same period in 2011.

 

Albany man held on federal sex-trafficking charges

A federal grand jury has indicted an Albany man on sex trafficking charges, alleging that he forced a minor to cross state lines to work as a prostitute. Steven Anthony Kidd, 20, was named in a U.S. District Court indictment handed up Wednesday.
