Oakland Community Health Network hosting community forum on mental health Monday night

The Oakland Community Health Network is hosting an community mental health forum with informational updates on legislative happenings in Lansing as well as direct care wages. The forum will feature Alan Bolter, associate director of the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan. The free event will be held Monday, May 21, from 6 p.

 

Marian High School honors parents for 30 years of volunteer service

Molly and Dave Robinson of Bloomfield Hills were honored for nearly 30 years of volunteer service to Marian High School at the school's Celebration of Thanks, an annual reception for donors and volunteers. The Board of Directors and Sr. Lenore Pochelski, IHM, Head of School, acknowledged over 100 members of the Marian community for their contributions at this gathering.

 

North Farmington High School alum makes record of longest rushing play in history

Dylan Gordon tied the record for the Michigan High School Athletic Association's longest rushing play in history during the North Farmington High School vs. Greenville Game last fall. The association recently added Gordon's 99-yarder to the record for the longest rushing play. Gordon started playing football in 2009 for the Detroit PAL League and then went on to play for Loyola High School in Detroit.

 

Royal Oak school alert ends after police debunk report of 'suicidal' man with a gun

Royal Oak police Monday say they notified a few schools near Beaumont to go into a "secure mode" after they received a report that possibly suicidal man with a gun was near the Beaumont Hospital campus.The man was reportedly upset because he was turned away from a military recruiting station because he had pistol with him sometime before 10 a.

Orion Veterans 5k set for Memorial Day

The second Orion Veterans Memorial Day 5k race is set for Monday, May 28. The race will start on Broadway Street just south of Flint Street in front of Sagebrush Cantina in downtown Lake Orion.The finish line will be on Odanah Avenue just west of the Orion Veterans Memorial, 312 S.

 

Martinrea opens new $1.7M technical center in Auburn Hills

Martinrea International Inc. recently held a grand opening for its new, 108,000 square-foot technical center in Auburn Hills. The Canadian-based tier one supplier of automotive parts, assemblies and modules, broke ground on the $1.7 million facility in October of last year. The technical center houses research and development processes, product engineering and testing capabilities for all of the company's business units.

 

Charity golf outing to benefit Crime Stoppers programs

The Michigan Department of Transportation has made a decision to open, not close, westbound I-696 in Oakland County this weekend. The original plan was to close the westbound lanes between I-75 and Telegraph Road beginning at 9 p.

 

Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo adoption event to run through Saturday

The Detroit Zoo's popular pet adoption event, Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo, returned on Friday, May 18, to find forever homes for hundreds of local pets in need.The free event is hosted by the Detroit Zoo semi-annually in partnership with the Michigan Humane Society and more than 40 local animal welfare groups.
