Road Commission to suspend most Oakland County projects over Memorial Day Weekend

Oakland County drivers will have fewer construction barrels to dodge this Memorial Day Weekend. The Road Commission for Oakland County will suspend work on most of its projects from 3 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Tuesday. "The Road Commission wants to ensure that its roads are as free of obstructions as possible during this period because of the increased traffic we typically see on a holiday," said Dennis Kolar, road commission managing director.

 

Ousted Troy city manager sentenced for domestic assault

Madison Heights man ordered to stand trial for murder in wife's shooting death

Accused of fatally shooting his wife, a Madison Heights man was ordered Monday to stand trial on a charge of open murder. Suspect Brian Chris Lytle, 44, waived his right to a preliminary examination in Madison Heights 43rd District Court on prosecutors' evidence against him and will be arraigned for trial next week.

 

Wolverine Lake's Clara Miller Park master plan updated following negative feedback

Last summer, residents in Wolverine Lake made it known that they didn't care too much for the Clara Miller Park master plan. At that time, the plan called for the addition of two soccer fields to the 13-acre park, which already features three softball fields, at an estimated cost of $920,000.

Rochester reinstates historical plaque program

The Rochester Historical Commission has brought back a program to recognize the city's unique architectural history. Rochester residents and business owners are now able to apply for recognition through a recently reinstated city historical marker program, which was temporarily halted when the city became involved in national and state historical designation programs.
