Port Arthur closes controversial debris dumping ground

The city of Port Arthur has shut down a controversial temporary dumping ground used to sort moldy debris after residents for weeks complained of health risks.
The "debris management site" on 19th Street was one of three opened by the city to separate construction materials, appliances and electronics to comply with FEMA regulations, the city said when they first opened.

Five minutes after the start of Game 7 of the World Series, Lumberton police officer Matthew Neal turned down the radio and turned on his police lights.
Neal pulled over a silver Honda Accord driving 65 mph in a 50 mph zone, the first traffic stop of his shift.
He let the driver off with a warning.
"She was just rushing home to watch the Astros," Neal said.
Some Southeast Texans, like Neal, weren't afforded the luxury of watching the Houston Astros win their first World Series title in franchise history - defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 at Dodger Stadium.

Orange Co. residents sue Corps of Engineers for flood damages

More than 120 residents of neighborhoods north of Vidor filed suit against the federal government Wednesday, alleging the Army Corps of Engineers knowingly flooded their homes by releasing water from Dam B and B.A. Steinhagen Lake after Harvey dumped feet of rain on Southeast Texas.
