Owner: 'No hope' for Adventure Kingdom after flood damage

Marlon Quibodeaux knew his beloved Renaissance-themed park Adventure Kingdom was a goner when he saw pictures of his purple bumper car floating down the floodwaters on U.S. 69. "There's no hope," Quibodeaux, 55, said. "It's totally devastated." Instead of preparing for a usual slew of birthday parties and business luncheons, Quibodeaux, his wife Tiffany and their son Tyler have been spending their days cleaning up the irreparable damage to Adventure Kingdom left behind by Tropical Storm Harvey.

 

DA drops murder charge in pregnant mom's shooting

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office has dropped murder charges against the man accused of killing Kera Teel and her baby in June after learning he was not involved in their deaths.

 

PA cop sues department, alleges defamation

A Port Arthur Police officer named in an affidavit that led to an internal investigation this past spring has sued the department, alleging that he was forced to resign and accusing the chief of defamation. In a petition filed in Jefferson County on Friday, Kristopher Boneau called the affidavit that accused five officers of wrongdoing "retaliatory and egregious and slanderous" and said Chief Patrick Melvin failed to investigate the allegations before putting him on leave. He is the third officer to sue the department following the accusations and investigation.

PAISD super: 'Absolutely impossible' to return to normal post-Harvey

Port Arthur ISD superintendent Mark Porterie told the Senate Education Committee on Monday that it is "absolutely impossible" for the district to return to normal this year after Tropical Storm Harvey.
