Car falls into New Milford river

NEW MILFORD - Emergency crews are responding to a car that fell into the Housatonic River Monday morning.

While there is no indication that the car was occupied at the time, members of the local fire department dive team have been called to the scene if they are needed. Several emergency crews including an ambulance and several police cruisers have already arrived.

The incident occurred on River Road near the intersection with Rooster Tail Hollow. River Road is closed at this time while emergency crews respond to the scene.

More information was not immediately available.

 

Troopers: Woman pointed gun at I-84 driver

Shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, State Police received a 911 call from a person traveling on I-84 east in Middlebury who said a woman pointed a gun at them in heavy traffic.

Francheska L. Texidor, 20, of Waterbury, was arrested on nine charges including operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operarting a motor vehicle without a license, carrying weapons in a motor vehicle, possesion of a large cap magazine, breach of peace, stealing a firearm, criminal use of a firearm or electronic defense weapon, threatening in the first degree and first-degree reckless endangerment.

 

Signal problems cause up to 90 minute Metro North delays

Metro North is reporting delays of up to 90 minutes due to signal problems on the New Haven line.

Around 6 a.m. Saturday Metro North reported that New Haven line customers should expect indefinite delays due to signal problems. Delays were updated to be about 90 minutes around 10 a.m.

The signal problems caused delays of about 45 minutes for the Danbury, New Canaan and Waterbury branch services.

Danbury and New Canaan branch service were back on schedule at about 10:30 a.m. but Waterbury and New Haven service are still experiencing delays.

 

Alternating one-way traffic on Stony Hill Road in Brookfield Monday

BROOKFIELD—The state Department of Transportation announced that alternating one-way traffic will be enforced on Stony Hill Road Monday during a bridge inspection.

One-way traffic will occur on the road between W. Whisconier Road and Stony Farm Lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The inspection is one of 33 bridge inspections the DOT has scheduled this week across the state.

Bomb threats evacuates Abbott Tech in Danbury

DANBURY - A bomb threat at Henry Abbot Technical High School this morning has forced authorities to evacuate the school and close off roads near the building.

Police said a bomb threat was called into the school at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday and that students were evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

 

Redding Police honors officers

Officers Rachel Cardella and Colin O’Connor received the Meritorious Service Award for their work at a crisis intervention call on April 26, where a “highly intoxicated man” had a firearm in a private residence.

Communications Supervisor Steve Schnell received the Employee of the Year Award for his dedication and service to the department and community.

 

Plumtrees Road to be closed Monday in Bethel

BETHEL—Police will detour traffic around Plumtrees Road Monday in order to begin paving the gravel sections of the road.

Drivers will be asked to use an alternate route to the school complex, such as Route 302 and Judd Avenue to avoid delays in the area, police said.

Man struck by train in Danbury

DANBURY—An unidentified man who was struck by a train in Danbury Friday night is in stable condition, according to the MTA.

MTA officials said an unauthorized man was on the tracks and struck by the 10:45p.m. train traveling from South Norwalk to Danbury.
