TRUMBULL — One person was sent to the hospital after an accident caused by a motorist traveling the wrong direction on the Merritt Parkway, police said.

Connecticut State Police Troop G responded to a two-car accident that resulted in a rollover on the northbound portion of the parkway between Exits 47 and 48 around 8:37 p.m. Friday night.

Police determined that the accident resulted from a driver entering the wrong way on the highway and driving head-on into northbound traffic.

DANBURY—A 43-year-old man is facing several drug charges after a weeks-long investigation led police to search his home Thursday. Police said they began investigating Keenan Moore, of Danbury, after complaints that he had been selling drugs from his home on Ashwood Valley and other locations in town. On Thursday, officers surveying Moore said they saw him stopped on Nabby Road in the car listed on a search and seizure warrant for him and his home, police said.

NEW MILFORD — Mayor David Gronbach wrote on Facebook Friday morning that someone had stolen a re-election lawn sign from his front lawn — two weeks after he asked residents to let lawn signs be.

In a news release and accompanying Facebook post written earlier this month, Gronbach urged residents to “be adults and set a good example.”

“Please don’t trespass on someone else’s property to remove or vandalize a sign,” he wrote.

Gronbach faces Republican Pete Bass in the Nov. 7 election.

BROOKFIELD - Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a bank robbery at the Newtown Savings Bank on Federal Road this morning.

Police said the robbery occurred just prior to 9 a.m. this morning and that no weapon was shown by the robber. The individual fled from the scene and authorities have police dogs in the area tracking the suspect.

Police are still actively investigating the scene of the robbery.

DANBURY - Fire officials are warning residents of a heightened fire danger this afternoon due to dry conditions and increased winds.

Citing an alert from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued an alert that a dry air mass over the region combined with high winds is creating a situation where fire can spread more rapidly.

Wind gusts of up to 20 to 30 miles per hour could increase the spread of an fire that is ignited, the alert noted.

Crews with the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department as recently as last week battled a brush fire near Francis J.

REDDING - The driver of a Jeep Liberty that erupted in flames after a crash in April critically injuring several local students was arrested Wednesday on charges including driving under the influence.

Ryan Capozziello, 18, of Fairfield turned himself in to police Wednesday after learning there was a warrant for his arrest stemming from the April 14 crash with charges that also include reckless driving and five counts of second-degree assault - a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

The accident occurred on April 14 at around 6 p.m.

Boaters using Lattins Cove are urged to be cautious because the launch ramp is damaged, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s weekly fishing report. The bottom of the ramp is broken and there’s a large drop off, according to the report. DEEP is working on repairing the launch and posted a sign to mark the end of the ramp surface. Boaters are not recommended to back down the ramp. It is also difficult to launch trailered boats at Lattins Cove because the water levels are close to the minimum “summer” levels.

SOUTHBURY - Traffic is moving slowly on Interstate 84 Tuesday morning after a two car accident near Exit 15.

Authorities said that police have closed the right lane in the westbound direction of Interstate 84 as a result of the crash that occurred around 9 a.m. . No major injuries were reported. Tow trucks are on the way to the scene to remove the vehicles.

Traffic is moving slowly through the area while police continue to investigate the incident and remove the vehicles from the roadway.

SOUTHBURY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday night in a crash on Lakemere Drive.

Watertown resident Kenneth Fraser, 31, lost control of his motorcycle while heading westbound on Lakemere Drive, according to State Police.

State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to the crash around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Fraser was unresponsive and taken to Waterbury Hospital for serious injuries, police said.

Police said the road was dry and the weather was clear at the time of the crash. Authorities are investigating the incident.

New timetables for the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven line Metro North trains will go into effect Sunday.

Metro North announced that some adjustments will allow infrastructure work to continue on the rails while some recently-completed track work will return trains to their normal schedules.

On the Hudson line, weekday trains departing form Croton-Harmon at 5:15 a.m., 5:40 a.m., 6:37 a.m. and 8:12 a.m. will operate one minute earlier. In the evening, the 6:59 p.m. train will depart from Grand Central four minutes earlier at 6:55 and the 7:21 p.m.
