Two-alarm fire in Glenolden displaces residents

GLENOLDEN >> A man was injured and borough residents were displaced after a two-alarm fire ripped through a South Llanwellyn Avenue home late Friday night, fire officials said."He was the father of the house," Mike McGowan, chief of the Glenolden Fire Company, said. "He's doing fine, he's doing OK.

 

Bill Cosby lawyers seek removal of a juror in last minute court filing

NORRISTOWN >> A day after Bill Cosby's jury was seated for his sexual assault retrial, his lawyers are trying to get one male juror removed, claiming he "may hold a fixed opinion" about the case, according to court papers.In court papers filed in Montgomery County Court late Friday, defense lawyers claimed a woman who was a prospective juror, during the selection process on April 4, overheard a man who subsequently was seated on the jury say to others, "I just think he's guilty, so we can all be done and get out of here.

Jury picked for Bill Cosby's sex assault retrial

A jury has been picked in the Bill Cosby sexual assault retrial in suburban Philadelphia.Prosecutors and the defense have settled on the panel of 12 jurors who will sit in judgment of the 80-year-old comedian. They still have to pick six alternates.The main panel appears to have 10 white and two black jurors.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Alexis

2-year-old female Mixed Breed Meet Alexis, the sweet homeless girl who is hoping her time close to where she is able to find a home. Alexis has pretty, light-yellow fur with little black eyes that plead to be loved. She was rescued from a southern overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where she is being the good girl she is while waiting to be picked by a family.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Tessa

1-year-old female Domestic Shorthair blend Say hello to Tessa, the extremely beautiful and equally as sweet homeless cat who is hoping her time comes soon when she is able to find a forever home. She has gorgeous dilute tortoiseshell colors, with a heart bigger than her body. Tessa was rescued by a Good Samaritan and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where she now waits for her turn to be made part of family.

 

PLDP Pet of the Week: Maize

Maize is an adorable 1-year old Beagle mix. She has the characteristics of a Beagle but the markings of an Australian Cattle Dog. She is UTD on shots, spayed and ready for her furever home. Maize is very playful and likes the game of fetch. She will bring the ball back to you, plays with her toys and she sleeps thru the night.

 

Francisvale Pet of the Week: Halo

Earning your halo and angel's wings is no small feat, but somewhere a bell is tinkling for our kitty who has done just that. Our boy, Halo, has experienced the roughest side of life yet has come out the other end with a sweet heart and a loving personality intact. Neglect and lack of care resulted in Halo losing his tail and vision in one eye, but those sad times have not gotten him down.
