Kingsport traffic stop snags alleged meth dealer

BLOUNTVILLE — Following the execution of a search warrant more than a month ago in the Bloomingdale community, police have now located and arrested a suspected drug dealer.
According to a press release from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, earlier this year the narcotics unit began investigating Warren McDaniel Hilton, 28. Hilton was believed to be selling methamphetamine from his home at 2512 Bloomingdale Road.
On July 12, investigators obtained a search warrant and entered Hilton's residence.

Ola Dell Robinson Hooker, 94, danced across the finish line to the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.
Ola Dell was born November 16, 1924 in Bulls Gap, TN to John and Mary Robinson. She was the youngest of nine siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart of 52 years, Thurston P. Hooker and their son, Dennis W. Hooker.

 

What will Congress do about mass shootings? Roe says lawmakers will weigh options

KINGSPORT — U.S. Rep. Phil Roe predicted on Tuesday that at the end of the summer recess, Congress will explore various approaches to prevent future mass shootings.
“There’s good verbiage about red flag laws,” Roe, R-Tennessee, said during a meeting with reporters at his district office in Kingsport.

KINGSPORT - Etta Ruth Wilson, 74, Kingsport, passed away Monday afternoon, August 12, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center after a short illness.
Etta was born in Washington County, TN and resided in Kingsport for most of her life. She was a member of Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church. Etta enjoyed living life with her family and friends and enjoyed a good time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wilson; sister, Gwendolyn Miller; and 4 brothers, Billy, Ernie, Kermit and Robert.

WEBER CITY, VA - George E. Harless, 71, of Weber City, VA and formerly of Long Island, Kingsport, TN, passed away at home after battling a long illness.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, George Steven Harless and William Johnson; daughters, Peggy Harless, Samantha Petrich and husband Bryan, Misty Dockery and husband Mike, and Merari Rogers and husband Hank; grandchildren, Kayla Williams and husband Bobby, George Steven Harless, Jr.

APPALACHIA, VA - Sherry Ruth Horton Needham, born April 25, 1960, entered into eternal sleep on August 12, 2019 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. 
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm Thursday, August 15, at the Apostolic Church, Appalachia with Rev. Johnny Flanary officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm before services.  Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am Friday at the Powell Valley Memorial 
Gardens.
