Cuomo: Pharmacies can give flu shots to children

ALBANY — Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an order Thursday that will allow children between the ages of 2 and 18 to receive flu shots from pharmacists.The executive order suspends regulations that prevent pharmacists from administering flu shots to children younger than 18.

 

State looks at compromise over Adirondack wilderness area

The agency that oversees the Adirondack Forest Preserve is offering what stakeholders say is a compromise regarding the extent of wilderness that should be in a 20,530-acre tract of land the state acquired in 2016.Under the deal proposed by the Adirondack Park Agency, the Boreas Ponds tract, which includes mountains, forest land and three scenic ponds, would be split between wilderness and wild forest designations.

Home sales flat, prices climbed last year in Capital Region

The average price of a Capital Region home climbed 4 percent in 2017 to $230,992, the Greater Capital Association of Realtors reported Wednesday. The number of homes sold, meanwhile, was flat. In the 11-county region, 11,878 single-family homes were sold, compared to 11,908 in 2016.
