The agency that oversees the Adirondack Forest Preserve is offering what stakeholders say is a compromise regarding the extent of wilderness that should be in a 20,530-acre tract of land the state acquired in 2016.Under the deal proposed by the Adirondack Park Agency, the Boreas Ponds tract, which includes mountains, forest land and three scenic ponds, would be split between wilderness and wild forest designations.
