On Nov. 18, 2014, Mats Steen died from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The 25-year-old Norwegian video gamer had been diagnosed with the disease as a toddler, started using a wheelchair at age 10, and spent the latter stages of his life barely able to move his fingers. Though his parents, Robert and Trude, knew their son wouldn’t live much longer, the news was still nearly impossible to fathom.
