DETROIT — Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons a featured NBA attraction? On Tuesday night, the answer is yes. It’s all part of the reality of a league built as much on sizzle and style as substance. So, yes, the NBA’s In-Season Tournament is back, now known as the Emirates NBA Cup. Part regular season, part game show — “Win an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas and fabulous cash prizes!” — the Cup is the NBA’s attempt to emulate the various international soccer cups, a bid to expand the pursued hardware beyond the Lawrence O’Brien Trophy for winning the NBA title. “It’s definitely a different energy that you feel, knowing that those games, I guess, mean a little more in a different way,” second-year Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr said, with the Heat coming off Sunday night’s dramatic 95-94 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
