Three Lancaster residents have been charged with federal weapons violations after being caught with machine guns, a grenade launcher and other weapons stolen from the Lancaster National Guard Armory.

 

Man hit, killed on Pageland Highway

A Lancaster man died Thursday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on Pageland Highway in Buford.

Gary Gene Roach Jr., 53, was doing yard work beside the road at 2888 Pageland Highway when he was hit shortly before 10 a.m. and died at the scene, according to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

 

IL man dies in Regent Parkway wreck

A single-vehicle accident killed a 71-year-old Indian Land man Monday night.
York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said Rocco Visalli, the passenger in the car, was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident on Regent Parkway. The parkway runs from Harrisburg Road in Indian Land to U.S. 21 in Fort Mill.
The accident happened about 9:05 p.m. as the driver of the 2007 Toyota, 58-year-old Rosann Visalli, was driving north, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Hovis.

 

Principal, pastor chase man who shot pellet gun at school

Lancaster police were unable to catch a man who fled Tuesday after being suspected of shooting a pellet gun at North Elementary School.
Nobody was hurt during the incident.
Parents in the car-rider line saw the man shooting at the school about 1:30 p.m. and called police.
The Rev. Wayne Murray, who was visiting the school, and North Principal Keishea Mickles chased the man but couldn’t catch him.
The school was put on lockdown and Superintendent Jonathan Phipps and other district personnel went to the school to assist with dismissal.

 

Dating-site hookup, nude shots, fake cop and $1,000 demand

An elaborate Lancaster County phone scam involved a dating website, nude photos, a furious “father,” a wary employer, a fake cop and a $1,000 extortion demand.
It started last month when a 20-year-old victim reported meeting a woman on the dating website PlentyOfFish who identified herself only as Brittany.
