Strictly Organic wins gold cup

Bend-based Strictly Organic Coffee Co. won a gold cup in the single-varietal category at the 2013 Best Coffee in Oregon competition at the Oregon State Fair, co-owner Rhonda Ealy said Wednesday.The company competed against 30 other coffees.

Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch has expanded with a 51-acre ranch property located at 19275 Innes Market Road in Bend. The new property is located across the road from the existing location and includes facilities for horse training and breeding, as well as an indoor arena.The Deschutes Public Library System has become a Funding Information Network partner with the Foundation Center of New York.

 

Bend man pleads guilty to fraud

Bend resident Mark Timothy Ellis, 38, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to filing a false tax return and filing a false lien against the federal law enforcement who investigated his tax return.According to court documents, between 2007 and 2010 Ellis used illegal debt termination programs to fraudulently cancel his and other debts like home mortgages and credit card debts.

 

Redmond fountain down for repair

The splash pad in Redmond’s Centennial Park has been closed since Monday after city crews noticed it was not operating correctly.

OSU-Cascades proposes location; Site is located near intersection of Southwest Century and Chandler

Oregon State University-Cascades Campus has identified two adjacent sites it will bring to the state Board of Higher Education as the proposed location of the university's new campus.The properties total 56 acres and are located near the intersection of Southwest Century and Chandler avenues on Bend's west side. One of the sites is 10 acres of wooded land that borders the roundabout where Chandler and Southwest Century intersect.

 

Walk Across America; Prineville students walk for National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month
