New River showcases Coos Bay BLM's blend of habitat conservation with recreation

New River was formed in the pioneer days of the 1890s when a major flood altered drainage patterns. What was left was a river running parallel to the ocean, nine miles north from Floras Lake to its new outlet to the sea.
