Tulsa: Sex-discrimination suit settled

Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology will pay $32,500 to settle a sex-discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In a lawsuit it filed in 2007, the EEOC alleged that the school's management treated a female certified flight instructor more harshly than her male counterparts and fired her because she complained about the sex discrimination. The agency claimed that the woman, a longtime employee of Spartan, had received excellent reviews from her supervisors, co-workers and students as a safe and competent instructor.
