Postgame interviews: Alabama

No. 15 Mississippi State completed its sweep over Alabama with a pair of wins in a doubleheader that began at 4:03 p.m. on Friday and finished at 1:49 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs won Friday’s first game 4-3 and rallied back for a 13-12 walk-off victory in 13-innings in the nightcap. MSU coach Andy Cannizaro, sophomore third baseman Luke Alexander and redshirt freshman outfielder turned pitcher Brant Blaylock recap their wild and crazy night at Dudy Noble Field.

 

Houston beats Lafayette; State’s strikeout leader sets down 12

HOUSTON – Houston pitcher Tanner Smith entered Friday night’s first round 4A playoff game against Lafayette leading the state in strikeouts in Division 4A.

Former professional football player Aaron Hernandez committed suicide this week while in prison for killing semipro football player Odin Lloyd. Hernandez was also indicted for a 2012 double homicide, for which he was found not guilty. One of the youngest players ever to enter the NFL draft, the All American tight end played with quarterback Tim Tebow the year the University of Florida won the national championship. He signed a $40 million contract with the New England Patriots in 2012. Despite a troubled past, he seemed intent on leaving the gang life behind him.

 

MSU to lead drone testing site

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State University will lead a major research and development project for the Department of Homeland Security.
The DHS Science and Technology Directorate selected Mississippi as the new base of operations for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly known as drones, and a Mississippi State-led partnership will oversee the initiative.
The proposal was developed by the Mississippi Partnership, led by MSU.
