City struggles to restore water service in Harvey aftermath

HOUSTON (AP) — A Texas city that lost its drinking water system to Harvey struggled Saturday to restore service, and firefighters kept monitoring a crippled chemical plant that has twice been the scene of explosions and fires since the storm roared ashore and stalled over Texas more than a week ago.

But the immediate focus will be on rushing an aid package to storm-ravaged Texas and Louisiana, and that bipartisan imperative has pushed aside talk of a government shutdown and President Donald Trump’s feuding with GOP lawmakers.

Ohio’s deer archery season begins in a month, which doesn’t leave much time for scouting, checking equipment and setting up tree stands or blinds.
After spring and summer growth, some hunters may need to do a little “pruning” to make sure they have a clear shot from their blind or stand. Blind or stand hunting are popular not only among bow hunters, but also with gun hunters.

West Central Ohio-Central Labor Council to host parade

LIMA — The West Central Ohio-Central Labor Council will host its annual Labor Day Parade on Monday.
The theme of this year’s parade is “Organized Labor — Giving Workers a Voice, Giving Families a Better Life.”
Bill Allen, of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 372 union, will be this year’s grand marshal. In place of trophies, cash prizes awarded in parade categories will be given to the United Way of Greater Lima.

 

Get This: Library: Fines can’t be paid with Chuck E. Cheese tokens

DANVERS, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts library is reminding residents that Chuck E. Cheese tokens are not an acceptable form of payment for overdue book fines.
Peabody Institute Library in Danvers, Massachusetts, posted on Facebook this week the library has had a surge of people attempting to pay fines and printing fees with tokens from Chuck E. Cheese and Bonkers— a Peabody amusement center —this summer.
The library says the tokens are not legal tender and cannot be accepted.
