NEW YORK — Beyonce, Blake Shelton, Barbra Streisand and Oprah Winfrey will headline a one-hour benefit telethon to benefit Hurricane Harvey victims that will be simulcast next week on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CMT.
The event will be telecast live at 8 p.m. Eastern on Sept. 12, and on tape delay at 8 p.m. on the West Coast. It is being organized by Houston rap artist Bun B and Scooter Braun, founder of SB Projects. The show will also be streamed live on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

TOLEDO — Police say an Ohio officer has shot and killed a man while responding to a 911 call about domestic violence.
Toledo police tell The Blade newspaper (http://bit.ly/2w0r5av ) that the officer was investigating a report of a man assaulting a woman Monday night when the shooting occurred.
A police spokesman declined to give specifics, saying the details are still being investigated. He says the case is being handled by a team trained in police shooting investigations.
Police did not release the name of the officer or the man who was killed.

OTTAWA — An Ottawa man pleaded no contest and was found guilty Thursday of persistent disorderly conduct after a threat toward a religion teacher.
Jonathon A. Gillette, 28, 1939 N. Defiance St., Lot 23, Ottawa, pleaded no contest to persistent disorderly conduct and was found guilty. He was sentenced to 30 days jail, 29 days suspended, and a suspended $250 fine as long as he has no contact with St. John’s Church and the St. John Parish Center, Glandorf. Charges of menacing and telecommunication harassment were dismissed.

COLUMBUS — Thousands of crime victims applying for aid are being rejected due to the strict rules designating who funding should be directed toward in Ohio’s victim compensation program, an investigation found.
A Dayton Daily News investigation found the Ohio Victims Compensation Fund program, administered by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, has been paying out less each year going even as the number of claims spiked in recent years.

COLUMBUS — Columbus police say a driver has been killed after losing control of his SUV on Interstate 71 and running off the roadway.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim pending notification of his family.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. Monday between the Morse Road and Route 161 exits. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The reason he lost control is being investigated.
This marks the city’s 39th traffic fatality so far this year.
