SPRINGFIELD — A Persian cat breeder who allegedly tried to kill two of her animals by tossing them into the Willamette River will remain incarcerated until she either posts bail or is released from the Lane County Jail for capacity-based reasons.

 

UO entry sign vandalized

University of Oregon police are trying to track down whoever wrote obscene graffiti on the new main UO entry sign on Franklin Boulevard late Monday or early Tuesday. The UO will press criminal charges and seek damages if it finds those responsible, said UO police spokesman Kelly McIver.

 

Council interviews this evening

The Eugene City Council this evening is to interview two residents seeking appointment to represent west Eugene on the council. The council needs to appoint someone to replace Ward 6 City Councilor Pat Farr, who is expected to take office as a Lane County Commissioner early next month.

HARRISBURG — A boy with the Tourette’s syndrome brain disorder was essentially denied his right to a public education here because school officials negligently failed to protect him from bullying and harassment, his lawyer told a federal jury today.

US 101 was re-opened by 11:30- a.m. after a fallen tree blocked the highway earlier about 12 miles north of Florence.

 

Eugene police schedule neighborhood crime-prevention meetings

Eugene police will present recent crime statistics and crime prevention tips during a pair of community meetings later this week. The presentations are scheduled for Wednesday at Bertha Holt Elementary School, 770 Calvin St. and Thursday at Cal Young Middle School, 2555 Gilham Road.

 

Lane Electric Coop reports outages

Early this morning, Lane Electric Cooperative began receiving reports of scattered power outages through its rural, hilly, forested territory. As of this morning, about 300 customers were without power, the utility said.
